Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV)
24 “The Lord bless you
and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”
John 16:33 (NIV)
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
In 2020, as we were stuck in our homes navigating the uncharted waters of a global pandemic, the song “The Blessing” by Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes took the Christian music industry by storm.
My husband and I began singing this song over our daughter in the hospital when she was born in 2021, and she has heard it almost every night since then. She’s even learning the words and starting to sing along.
Kari wrote this song after she experienced the terror of her infant son falling into a lake. In the following days, in her shaken state, she felt inspired to sing God’s blessings over her children, and the song was born. (1)
Just like our hearts toward our children are tender, so is God’s toward us. He is a good Father (the best Father). Even amidst difficult circumstances, like a global pandemic or other fearful events, we can experience His grace and peace if we run to Him.
He wants to show us His grace and peace. He wants to turn His face toward us. He wants to bless His children. No matter what you face today, remember that the best Father you could ever ask for has a tender heart toward you. Find comfort in His loving presence.
Reflection: How does the reminder of God's tender heart toward me impact my perspective during difficult times?

Bridge:
May His favor be upon you
And a thousand generations
And your family and your children
And their children, and their children
(x4)
May His presence go before you
And behind you, and beside you
All around you, and within you
He is with you, he is with you
In the morning, in the evening
In your coming, and your going
In your weeping, and rejoicing
He is for you, he is for you
He is for you, he is for you
He is for you, he is for you
He is for you, he is for you
He is for you
Chorus
